W początkach swego istnienia Jeff wprost kipiał pomysłami. Tylko niewielka ich część znalazła swoje miejsce na płytach, w tym na prezentowanej dwójce "Being There" z 1996 roku.
Muzyk z Wietrznego Miasta to prawdziwy mistrz alternatywnego rocka, darzący również wielką miłością alt-country i bluesa. Dzięki temu powstał unikatowy styl Wilco, który daje się słyszeć również na "Being There". Aż 76 minut oryginalnej muzyki nagrano w różnych studiach w ciągu 11 miesięcy. Brzmienie nadali muzycy zespołu pod przewodnictwem Jeffa. Nowy w składzie był multiinstrumentalista Jay Bennett.
Wersja deluxe boxset to zremasterowana płyta oryginalna i aż 15 nagrań bonusowych, które pojawiają się po raz pierwszy. Pozostałe dyski zawierają między innymi koncert z klubu Troubadour, z 12 listopada 1996 roku, piosenki alt-country'owej kapeli Uncle Tupelo, w której grał Tweedy przed Wilco, jak i nagrania koncertowe ze stacji radiowej KCRW, z 13 listopada 1996.
Przełomem w karierze Wilco przyszedł nieco później. Była nim płyta "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" z 2002 roku. Dwa lata później zespół zdobył dwie nagrody Grammy za "A Ghost Is Born" (2004) w tym dla najlepszego albumu alternatywnego.
