1 maja 2020, piątekZespół Jethro Tull wydał album "Stormwatch" we wrześniu 1979 roku, zamykając tym samym folkową trylogię, którą dopełniają "Songs from the Wood" (1977) i "Heavy Horses" (1978). Mająca złoty status płyta "Stormwatch" była też ostatnią nagraną w klasycznym składzie z końca lat 70. Grupę tworzyli wówczas Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, John Glascock, John Evan, David (obecnie Dee) Palmer i Barriemore Barlow.
Sesja do "Stormwatch" trwała od sierpnia 1978 roku do lipca 1979 roku. Tematami przewodniki okazały się ekologia i opowieści marynistyczne, czego przykładem są takie utwory jak "North Sea Oil" czy "Flying Dutchman". Zespół nagrał wówczas więcej materiału, ale pominął numery, które tematycznie nie pasowały do reszty.
"Stormwatch" było końcem pewnej epoki Jethro Tull. Z powodów zdrowotnych basista John Glascock opuścił większość sesji i tak naprawdę można go usłyszeć w zaledwie trzech kawałkach ("Flying Dutchman", "Orion" i "Elegy"). Niestety Glascock zmarł niedługo po premierze płyty. Skład zmienił się jeszcze bardziej, gdy po trasie promującej longplay szeregi opuścili Barlow, Evan i Palmer.
