Nagrania z albumu "Bob Dylan – 1970" zostały po raz pierwszy wydane w limitowanej edycji 4 grudnia jako część serii wydawnictw "Bob Dylan - 50th Anniversary Collection" (której wydawanie rozpoczęło się w 2012 roku). Zainteresowanie nagraniami z 1970 roku, a zwłaszcza sesją studyjną Dylana z George'em Harrisonem spowodowało zapotrzebowanie na szersze udostępnienie tych historycznych utworów.
"Bob Dylan – 1970" zawiera niewydane wcześniej fragmenty sesji do albumów "Self Portrait" i "New Morning" a także kompletne nagrania studyjne z 1 maja 1970 roku z Georgem Harrisonem. Bob i George występuje razem na dziewięciu utworach, w tym: "One Too Many Mornings", "Gates of Eden", "Mama, You Been On My Mind", w utworze grupy Everly Brothers "All I Have to Do Is Dream" oraz utworze Carla Perkinsa "Matchbox".
